i had 2 archers called bill and bob, they died from a mysterious substance that made the tank stink but the water appeared fine!

what temperature do they like? are they sweetwater or saltwate or freshwater?
-
sweet color!! almost looking like a saltwater fish :)

Also Archerfish are not very aggressive at all. They tend to leave other fish alone unless they are big enough to fit in their mouths. I keep three large ones with Discus and Silver dollars and they get on fine. For those concerend about the different water needs of those kinds of fish I keep the PH neutral at 7 to keep all happy.

Archerfish can live in Fresh, Brackish and Marine. They usually spend adulthood in estuaries where the salinity changes all the time. They return to freshwater to spawn. My Archers are pretty big and don't mind freshwater. i do add a small amount of aquarium salt, but not marine salt. Archerfish have been successfully bred in Freshwater tanks. although this is rare.

for all you retards outthere, brackish water is just freshwater with about 1 tablespoon of salt for every 5 gallons. Archerfish are able to live in any type of water but preferr brackish. for those who think you cant have any other fish, you can also have pufferfish in there too. they are very easy to maintain. both of these fish do best with a 50+ gallon tank. A 38 tank would work but to keep the fishes stress free, you want 50 or more gallons.
