Spring is welcomed into the studio of artists Wyllie O Hagan in the making of a May Altar.

An Irish childhood ritual is remembered and re-enacted in the placing of objects - an image of The Madonna and Child together with freshly picked Spring flowers to welcome the Month of May.

  • Can I come live with you? What a dreamy video. I feel so at ease. Thank you so much! I want to eat fish and chips at Whitby. Sigh

  • Course you can darlin

Bring as many beautiful Bassets as you like.

You'd be very welcome - have you had your parade yet?

I'd kill for fish and chips right now.

  • Thanks for posting this interesting vid as a response. Coincidentally, blooms over here (a tropical setting) peak in May, so we celebrate the abundance of flowers through the annual month-long festival "Flores de Mayo".

  • Thank you for this comment. We are all connected and our ceremonies come from the same source.

We'd be delighted to see a video of "Flores De Mayo" if you get a chance to make one.

    Wishing you all the best.

  • Lovely icon. The Russian people you were with sound very generous. Wonderful video, I enjoyed it very much.

  • Thank you very much for your comments. You are right, the Russian artists were very generous.

  • How interesting to hear about the May Altar tradition. I like the way it seems to have its roots in pagan traditions that still reach us today. We hardly seem in touch with the seasons. It takes creative artists to keep us in touch with Nature. By the way what is the charming little painting? Is it one of yours and for sale? How big is it? Miss Violet

  • Lovely:)
