Primarily for two reasons:
1. They have SSD (Single-Sided-Deafness), rendering hearing aids completely ineffective due to the nature of the condition.
2. Sound quality - a conventional hearing aid has to pass sound through the eardrum which may or may not be damaged. If it is, sound will inevitably be distorted. Since the Baha vibrates the bones of the ear through their anchors to the skull instead of through the eardrum, it can bypass any distortion caused by the eardrum.

Interesting procedure, I question though why someone would opt for this over a non-invasive hearing aid- is comfort the only factor?

BAHA seems to be a nice option in hearing aid treatments; something very important that is mentioned in the video is that not all patients qualify for using it. Results may vary between patients, so a DEMOSNTRATION is recommended before surgery.
