almost none of the mcmap training people get makes them much better at fighting. you don't learn 'effective way to take people out fast'; you get what is basically shitty bjj training from an instructor who couldnt even be competitive with most solid white belts and striking from people who know absolutely nothing about striking
and you do silly eye gouge motions while screaming, "kill"

i agree the marine corps has gone somewhat soft (all branches have) .
i think its because these guys know each other so theyre just taking it easy. at our barracks we would hang with different units and box each other, so it was more intense and a lot more competitive.
who was bragging? i only mentioned that we used to do this at lejeune to.
