  • Pontiac had no big or small blocks. they are all the same from the 326-455. different heads and stroke made the cubes different but ALL the blocks are the same.

  • gypman is an idiot, NO Pontiac themselves never produced a BIG BLOCK. The blocks where all the same to save on production cost. Now if after market companies modified or changed what the factory did thats different. But Pontiac themselves never made a ( BIG BLOCK) for the public.

  • @bubbasoneddy1 Can't forget Buick's 455.

  • I consider the 421,428,455 Pontiac big blocks. I do like all Pontiacs and had my share of 350's 400's and 455's and my best one was the 71 455 with a ram air cam. The nice thing is they share a lot of the same parts. There is many differences on the motors depending on the year they were built. 1976 was the last year they built the Pontiac 455. That's why they started using the olds 403,and chevy 350.

Not sure if you're trying to justify pontiac has a big block or not, but the main size has nothing to do with a big or small block, you can essentially have any mains you want in any block. Chevrolet Small Blocks had 3 different main sizes, and at least 6 different bore spacings.... from 262-400

  • There all big blocks i would think the 326's and 350's are actually heavier because of the smaller bore

  • Pontiac 400 has a 3 inch main and 455 has a 3.25 main

  • @StSt89 true almost all the heads are interchangeable, but 389 head has a different valve angle,so if they are installed on a 455 you could run into clearance issues with the pistons.

  • there are only 2 gm engines. both 455. one olds, one pontiac. nuff said.

  • @Ajacques8000 I agreed with you bud. I have a pontiac 455 in my T/A. I don't have a pontiac 'big block'. 455 is the largest factory displacement poncho engine. However, the Pontiac 455 is NOT a big block. Hence, Pontiac doesn't have a big block... just (as you said I believe) different bores and strokes and in some cases such as the panzi 301 even a different crank journal size. Maybe. I could be wrong. I'm no expert simply an avid Pontiac fan.

  • @ryanpushesthebutton ur a retard. i said that there is no big block. whats not to get
