David Malone was appointed as president of IDRC in July 2008. Prior to that, Mr. Malone served as Canada's High Commissioner to India and non-resident Ambassador to Bhutan and Nepal. Other positions he has held include: Assistant Deputy Minister in Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade; President, International Peace Academy, New York; Director General of Policy, International Organizations and Global Issues Bureaux, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada; and Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations. He has published extensively on peace and security issues, including several books. His latest book, Does the Elephant Dance? Contemporary Indian Foreign Policy (Oxford University Press, 2011), explores the development of India's foreign policy.
