Nicks DIY turbine Jet Kart 0-70-0 in under 1/8th

A lot of folks ask how fast (or slow) these things can go. Well my Kart powered only by thrust could easily do 120mph if I had the room. So we settled for 70mph tops on this very short strip.

Where did the turbocharger come from? Looks larger then one off of a motor out of a semi.

Garrett TV81 normally off diesels in excess of 13 litre capacity sometimes gensets.

What a waste of time!!! Just go get a Rotax 125 off the shelf and you'd be spanking that turd all day. File this under 'makes more noise than power'.

A garrett TV81 huh? Fast Kart! lots of thrust from a DIY engine thats for sure!

I've got an engine in construction using a holset ST-50, and was wondering how my engine would compare with yours If I got a proper reheater hooked up? What Kindof RPM are you running? What is your Compressor exducer diameter?

@childsca - Yup, the afterburner was lit at 0:06 and was running almost til the end, an evening shot would have shown it better, but then again it's not all about how much fire you can throw (waste) out the back. A huge fireball just means you're burning fuel outside of the jet pipe which serves no useful purpose except to make fools 'whoop',,, :-)))
