In September 2005, a QuickTime video file titled Thunderbirds IR was released on several P2P networks. It opens with music by Barry Gray and a few clips of the classic Thunderbirds 1 through 4 launching, then shows several scenes from an intended new Thunderbirds series from Carlton Television. The trailer made with a combination of computer-generated imagery and puppetry depicts scenes including internal sets, external settings, and a sleekly-redesigned Thunderbird 1, Scott Tracy, The Hood, and the rescue of a falling lighthousekeeper. Scott Tracy is seen to walk, and perform a backflip.

The trailer stated that a new Thunderbirds series would be coming in 2005 from Carlton Television and displays a phone number. The series was developed by Carlton with David Freedman as executive producer and David Mercer who was heading the Children's Department at Carlton at the time. Greg Johnson and Bob Forward were lead writers and Asylum did all the set builds and puppet work. Tim Field was line producer. Dave Throssel and a small team from The Mill TV Dept did the CG work. Steve Clarke directed the short. Gerry Anderson met the Carlton team in the early days of development and gave his full blessing. However, when Granada and Carlton merged, the series was shelved until further notice.

  • "good, i only need 9"

    ...

    "shakes head"

  • That was absolutely rubbish and an affront to the brilliant original. The puppets were horrid and Scott's attitude in this remake is all wrong, not to mention terrible looking, too. As a die-hard fan of the original series (thank you Gerry and Sylvia Anderson), I can respect a revival and will look forward to it, but it must be done with taste and panache. Not rubbish like this piece.

  • "Scott, hold up! It's too risky! The whole place is gonna blow in 10 seconds!"

  • Apparently there will be another remake of Thunderbirds, but this time Gerry Anderson himself will be behind it!

  • I am ashamed to claim I directed this and relieved it was never made. We knew we were going against all that was great about Thunderbirds but we were under the control of people who didn't understand the concept of the original... Very sad! I hop it is treated fairly this time round although CG doesn't seem to be the way to go!

  • Thunderbirds is such a loved show and has lasted the test of time, yet it is without a doubt the one Gerry Anderson show that fans have wanted to see return for as long as I can remember, thanks to the networks and their brilliant time slotting Gerrys "New Captain Scarlet" only lasted 2 seasons, but at last Thunderbirds returns in full CGI as was Scarlet and I have read it may premier around Xmas time this year....Prime your Subwoofers everyone......Thunderbirds are again go..

  • @nyn8tv Even though you say this, you know that Gerry Anderson was involved in this one, but it was shelved, and since then, ITV will not allow another Thunderbirds series to go on the air!

  • whats that big thing at 1:20??? it looks like an elaphant from halo 3!

  • gay. for some reason it reminds me of the mario and luigi cartoon the one that is used in ventrillo harasement with the "spaggggggggettttttti" nonsense.... please burn and bury this heap of trash.

  • This wasn't made, because Gerry Anderson met Trey Parker before the production, but they cancelled it because Gerry thought there are some good parts in the film, but the language in it wasn't what he prefered.

  • Lmao at 1.16

  • Oh man, lol... total rubbish compared to the original series.
