Ben Roethlisberger's Rookie Dream Season 2004 - WTOL-TV

2004 was a big year for Pittsburgh as the Steelers drafted their franchise QB Ben Roethlisberger. It was also a big year in northwest Ohio where folks took great pride in watching their hometown kid become an NFL star. I was working at WTOL in Toledo back then and I was lucky enough to cover Big Ben at every home game that season in Pittsburgh. Here is a 2004 season recap I put together for WTOL featuring the song "Dreams" by Van Halen.

Best moment in Ben's rookie year -- when he thrashed the New England Patriots on Halloween night........the Pats were on a 21-game winning streak and they thought they were gonna steamroll the rookie QB and teach him a lesson about how to play in the NFL.........Big Ben FUCKED THEM UP !!

And on the 1st Day God sent Big Ben to be a Steeler. He went on to win to carry out the lord's order and so it was, that Big Ben was God's gift to the Steel City.

@adams2294 Thats a big negative. The bengals havent been beaten by baltimore because we havent played them. And Imnot too worried about them because weve pretty much owned the ravens for the last 8 years or so. We lost to san fran who is clearly one of the better teams this year and denver(horrible loss). But since that debacle in denver, the bengals have rattled off 5 straight.

The combined record of all the teams the steelers have beaten is 15-35. The combined record of all the teams the bengals have beaten is 16-33. And you wanna tell me that the bengals schedule is s**t? If thats true then the steelers schedule is just as soft. Enjoy being 0-2 in the division

Letting flacco drive down the field with little time left for the GW touchdown in your house. It was a thing of beauty. Ill see you in cincy next week where my surprising bengals meet up with the ticked off steelers. Dalton wins this one and you can bet the bengals have found their franchise guy.
