At the Paris Motor Show in October, Volvo Cars were presenting new diesel variants of the Volvo C30, Volvo S40 and Volvo V50 models with fuel consumption of just 4.4 litres/100 km (the Volvo C30) or 4.5 litres/100 km (the S40 and the V50). Good cars. Why aren't these turbo-diesels available in the USA? Why doesn't Ford and other automakers manufacture efficient vehicles in the USA? Why aren't automakers commercializing plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs)? Why doesn't Volvo diversify into wind energy, photovoltaics and biofuels?

And the car tells you when to gear up or down. ;) So you should theoretically always drive eco-driving in a DRIVe car.

I tried a Mitsubishi Galant -00 some time ago, and it did something like that - a flashing icon in the dashboard said something like "GDI mode" when within right gear and RPM. :)

yeah, 0.39 litres per 100 km when they drived "eco driving" :P

When swedish car-magazines have tested this car the 0,44litres/10km not approriate. They got down to 0,39litres per 10km. Personally I look forward to the new D5 engine with twin-sequential turbos, 1,8bars of turbopressure and 205horsepowers and 420Newtonmeters of torque!

Why must Europe/Scandinavia build superior vehicles--yet be misunderstood by the American public. I'm not racist but beautiful white countries producing beautiful white,pearl satin,graphite metallic,LA Red,and chiffon white vehicles willbe and must be purchased and driven-----------fully!
