Obama met today with what he's calling his Senior Working Group on National Security. The group includes former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Warren Christopher, as well as former Defense Secretary William Perry.New polls show Obama is leading Republican John McCain in three battleground states -- Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Obama's lead is largest in Pennsylvania -- where he's up 52 to 40 percent.Michelle Obama appeared on the television talk show "the View." Mrs. Obama says she was touched when first lady Laura Bush defended statements Obama made about being proud of her country for the first time in her adult life. Obama said she likes Bush's calm, rational approach.John McCain spent part Wednesday in Springfield, Missouri calling for new measures to reduce dependence of foreign oil. He wants 45 new nuclear reactors by 2030 and two billion dollars a year for making clean coal a reality. ___ ___, The Associated Press.
