  • Anthem Part 3 of the Powaqqatsi Soundtrack

  • I couldn't help laughing.

  • Does someone know whats the name of the song that is played at the end of the movie?

  • @Stunt2one You know I used to feel the same way about his etudes and then I heard him play the metamorphoses pieces, especially when he plays number 4 he is very clean. So now I think thats the way he interprets his own music- or maybe he just has arthritis

  • @g4thz it is not uncommon that composers aren't the best interprets of their music. Even for a pianist like Rachnaninoff, he felt ashamed and never performed his 3rd concerto again after hearing Horowitz perform it.

Their is always magic in hearing composers interpret their own music and there is immense value in that by itself.

I am a pianist, saw Glass perform 5 feet away from me and could tell he was struggling technically.... but there was magic in his presence, the full theater hypnotized.

  • one in nyc and the other in novascotia, there he has a digital and at nyc i think a baldwin

  • @hartnell114

You may be right. I didn't know he has two homes. What I wrote is what he told me personally after a press conference.

  • forgive me but, when we see him at his new york apartment, does he not have one there (that isnt digital) i think he may only have a digital piano at his other home (by the sea but i forget exactly where)

  • Glass said in public (2008) that early in their careers Steve Reich and he were unable to play their own piano works. He marvels at the way young people nowadays perform his compositions. At home he has no acoustic instrument, only a digital piano.

  • Well it's got WAAAAY less clarity. But maybe that's how he wants it to sound? I wouldn't write it off too quickly.
