Here, we have some typical homemade smoke bombs that leave my workshop, for use in Airsoft, pantball, Emergency signaling...........or just plain old laddish mischief!
They are all different sizes and therefore give off different amounts of smoke (see the video for weights of each device)

The compositions are fairly straight forward and use chemicals familar to any reasonable pyrotechnician. the comps are as followed:

YELLOW= Solvent Yellow Dye/ KClO3/ Lactose (50/30/20)

RED= Solvent Red Dye/ KClO3/ Lactose (50/30/20)

Legendary WHITE= KNO3/ Sugar/ Paraffin Wax (60/40/+40)

All the devices filled the forest with dense smoke, and because there wasn't much of a wind, it lingered for some time!

For all you Tree hugging hippies out there, water was to hand, just incase any of them got out of hand!

  • The comps of the devices at 0:03 and 2:51 are the same (or atleast stated as such) how did you acheive the difference in burn rate, compression of comp?

  • @74KU

    The percentages of the comps are the same, in respects to fuel, oxidiser and dye, but the changing factor is ofcourse the dye. For some reason the red dye i use dramatically decreases the burn rate of the comp in comparison to the yellow dye comp i use.

    I have yet to find a reason why this is the case.

  • It helps a ton, Thx. How do you get your hands on potassium chlorate?

  • @AbsolutBalderdash

    :)

    there are chemical suppliers out there! do a bit of googling and youll come across what you are looking for.

    good luck

  • Okay, Im abit confused here... So for all the other smoke bomb vids (KNO3+Sugar) they show how they cook the mixture until it looks like ''peanut butter''. This looks like it works WAAAAY better cuz when I made a smoke bomb I just cooked stump remover with sugar and it made like a fire bomb that probuced smoke. I like how in this video its a thicker more slower burning smokey-discharge. How do you make it!?!? I see your ratio's but do you have to cook it to ''peanut butter''

  • @AbsolutBalderdash

    KNO3 + sugar should never be cooked to make the peanut butter substance, its dangerous, unecessary and gives poor results.

    The coloured comps here are all powdered mixes, with the 3 components simply mixed untill homologous.

    If you can get hold of some KClO3 then give these comps ago. Its the easiest smoke mixture i know to achieve the best results ive come across.

    hope this helps

  • hey alright so i used powdered sugar instead of straight up lactose and for the dye i used marking chalk and i mixed it good and whatever but when i ignited it it just blew out one of the clay plugs. And im sure if the plugs where any tighter it might of just exploded. so im just wondering if its the powdered sugar that did that or the dye i used? And i also wanted to know what brand dye you used?

  • Was thinking of using Calcium Chloride ince i have it around and it is similar to Potassium chloride. What do you think?

  • @murdoch2486 where can you get Potassium Chlorate? The powder dyes? and what do you mean by Lactose, (Do you buy it in a powder? where can you get it?) Thanks

  • When u say Lactose what do you mean?

  • TUTORIAL

    PLEASE !

  • CAN I PURCHASE SOME OF THESE FROM YOU PLZ EMAIL ME AT zkrev@mac.com

  • Thats like Care Package

  • How did you make the legendary smoke bomb so good? I have made many of these 60:40:40 like you, but your smokes ALOT better than mine. How did you do it?
