  • @Dunc89 Celtic might be the biggest business in football, but that comment is ridiculous, we as Celtic fans support the club not the PLC. Moronic.

  • dickheads

  • lol, what a shite group

  • Following on from this, for the Green Brigade to proclaim that they are a left-wing organisation whilst simulataneously supporting the biggest business in Scottish football is laughable. PS I would say Hibs are more of a cornershop than a Spar, which makes it much easier to stomach the capitalism involved in football whilst still supporting a club! In all seriousness though, something drastic has to be done about the Scottish game to improve competitiveness and enjoyment for ALL fans.

  • I take your point about all clubs acting the same but on different scales, however even considering this the Old Firm are somehing quite special in terms of fatcats. Both sides, but Celtic moreso, seem to be set on annihaliting the capacity for opposition outwith the OF through decimation of talent to be left rotting in the stands or on the benches. It is a great shame, but both work to ensure this duopoly and thus their bank balance is maintained.

  • I'm sorry to say but if I support the Mcdonalds of scottish football, you support the SPAR."Glory hunting sheep" ditch the worn out false cliches of unsuccessful clubs. Celtic and to be fair, the huns have 2 of the 3 biggest hardcore travelling supports in the UK,with the other being the Manks.Celtic were taking probably the biggest, on average, support on the road in britain in the 90's when we were utter shite.Your right about faceless money grabbing directors but supportwise yer havin a laugh

  • Hibs were an influence on Celtic's founders in the sense that they decided to form a soccer club and not a gaelic sports club after seeing how successful a soccer club could be within the local irish community. Thats were it ends I'm afraid, influence is one thing actively founding is another.

While I agree the fatcats in charge of both clubs are the same. Don't kid yourself on that hibs are any different. All football directors in this country are the same, in it for the money.

  • Actually, if your talking about the scottish "ultra" scene that's exactly what you should do. For whatever your personal feelings about Celtic the Green Brigade are by far and away the best and most authentic of these supposed "ultra" groups.

  • Yes, your club are merely following in the footsteps of Hibernian.

"Little team"? Have some respect for your history. It is a grand irony that a club that revels in it's "history", has no respect for it's real history and it's real founders: Hibernian FC. You support the McDonalds of Scottish Football. The Old Firm is a business partnership, there is no rivalry, only filthy rich bastards followed by mindless glory hunting sheep. Wake up and smell the coffee; rebels? Don't make me laugh.

  • Ofcourse I know what you are referring to, the "flag flutter" of 1952. Celtic fans accuse the then Hibs chairman, Harry Swan, of attempting to ban the Tricolour from football. This is a falsehood. The ban infact originated from the Glasgow Magistrates, and then upheld by the Referee's Committee. It was George Graham, then head of the SFA, who was in charge of both these bodies, and thus responsibility for the "flag ban" lies with him; not with Swan, and certainly not with Hibernian FC.
