Midwest Airlines is cutting 110 jobs in Kansas City as part of a 40 percent reduction in staffing.
Midwest currently has about 275 employees in Kansas City. In all, the Wisconsin-based carrier is reducing its work force by 1,200 around the country.
Most of the job cuts will take effect by mid-September. A spokesman for the airline says the cuts will include unionized pilots and flight attendants.
Like other carriers, Midwest Airlines has been hurt by soaring fuel prices.
Midwest is the second largest airline in Kansas City; Southwest Airlines is the biggest.
