Michael Baytop and five year old Nicholas Spicer perform "Don't Let Go" at the Riverdale Park "Festival of Lights & Holiday Farmers Market" December 14,2008.
I have been playing bones for more than 5 years and blues for decades. Nicholas is a natural. But most impressive is that he is listening and reacting to changes in the music. He is backing off a little to emphasis the vocal phrasing. Unfortunately, a lot of times in a jam, experienced musicians simply play the tune how they always play it or how they think it should sound. The most important skill is listening.
A good jam is a conversation. Nicholas is going to have a lot to say.
