Good old musical satire composed & performed by Seth Wochensky about the Erie County Budget. Performed at the Partnership for the Public Good Movement Party at Ujima Theater Dec. 23, 2010. First time singing in public in over 15 years so don't expect Renee Fleming!

This old train is running off the track
Ain't no time to sit and unpack
Old King Collins is on the attack

It's the Erie Railway -- Hop on board
The man at the front says we can't afford
To keep this train running full speed and on time
Not on the taxpayer's dime

The first to unhitch was the red caboose
Then Collins cut the culturals loose
Ujima, CEPA, Just Buffalo
Sorry folks, they all gotta go

Kavinoky paid their Musicalfare
But got the Road Less Travelled on a song and a prayer
Alleyway and Neglia got into a mess

There ain't much left we can call ours
Collins cut the Pullman and the Poloncarz
He runs a business but nobody's buying
Meanwhile Shakespeare is dying

Six Signals later and this train was lean
We cut the coal car but we needed steam
Unhook probation -- set free all the crooks
We need more fuel let's burn all the books

I've heard of disconnect but this is insane
The man wants to take the wheels off of the train
He says, "Why should we keep you on the track if you can't steer?"
I think it's time to get a new engineer.
