@BellaMarie142 ...You probably will not know for the first 3 weeks. Then she "may" loose her appetite, become a little moody, seem somewhat depressed or no change at all. In the meantime...do Not mash on the dog's belly, you could seriously damage the embryos. Begin increasing her daily food intake after the first month and have your vet check her at about 45-50 days along.

that was, it sounds strange, but really cool. my chihuahua is due to give birth any day now and i think that i needed to see that before hand thanks for posting this!! do you have any tips for me, i need all the help i can get.

Tip #1 Stay calm! Your nervousness will be felt by your mum.
Tip #2 Like baking a cake - have all your whelping
items ready before she goes into labor.
Tip #3 Have another person there to help since you are new to this.
Tip #4 Have your vet's phone number close in case of emergency.
