www.TheCyndicate.com :

UPDATE: This method no longer works. It was patched after the release of the custom avatars from the PSN Store were released. It over-wrote the temporary spot in the memory, where it held the changed avatar file.

The only way to do this now, is with a "Jailbroken" console. You can FTP a new avatar to your console in PNG format, but nobody will see it. I have been told that if you have the same image, with the same name, in the same location, that you can see it. But that is pretty much the same as my old method, and doesn't really do what everyone wants it to do.

I think at some point, someone will find a way.

This is a video showing me "poking" around with the naming & title attributes of the Playstation 3's PSN Avatars.

Recently people were saying that my Avatar method was a "DNS Hack" or trick. The DNS method hooks your PS3 to a computer, then the computer is hooked to the internet. Whenever the PS3 "asks" for the Avatar image, you replace the url to the image, with whatever url you want, to a new image. However, this method replaces that image, with your image in both the list & your shown avatar. No one else sees it, it is a fake method.

As you can see here, I am entering a "title" name for the Avatar and also the name of the group it belongs to in the Avatar list.

This is not possible when using the "DNS Hack" method.

  • lol at the first moment i thought that avatar shows kevin james (king of queens)

  • lol, it does kind of look like him at first glance! LOL!

However, it's not. I feel bad for doing it now.

I just did a fast search for pictures of someone with "Downs" syndrome.

It's how I image the people that talk trash on here, look like. LOL!

  • annyways g's i can wait you tell how to do this however if you feel generous send me a private msg :P

  • I make you laugh?

Being proven wrong, and looking like an idiot makes you laugh?

    Hey, if that suits you.

  • Never said I was a developer, maybe you should read more carefully...You make me laugh though, so keep it coming

  • You are not a developer.

Whats your Dev ID and what is your certificate number?

    Who is your license under?

    I gave you your proof.

Deft knows me from my freaking Playstation SOFTWARE he uses.

  • DeftFW - when you have been in the PSP/PS3 scene for quite some time you learn to know when something is fake or a simple manipulation. This is not what he says it is, several reliable and established developers have already declared his claim false - that is all I shall say

  • You should have seen all of the garbage they posted earlier, that I deleted.

They had no idea what they are talking about.

Let me send you a little link.

  • what i cant understand is, how can they say this is something, since when are you aloud to have a custom avatar and edit the name of the group its in, you can't do this like he said its called memory manipulation

  • funny thing is i see no videos of this any where
