Abe is the mayor of Salem now. Roman got passed over for promotion in favor of Hope. Since Hope is out of the country, Bo is filling in. Besides, the viewers like an actor who looks like he hasn't had five strokes at once.

I actually totally get why you would hesitate to hug someone you were that close to after all this time. I mean, considering their history and considering his history with Hope, it's complicated, man :D hugging the woman who was the love of his life and the way he feels about Hope now, got to be more than a little confusing.

Carly's breakdown is not very believable. I mean Crystal is amazing actress, but the breakdown has come out of nowhere, the writers have given her nothing to work up to the it. As a result the breakdown is passable, but not more than that. And Bo just standing there? Anyone else would be breaking down in front of him and he would hug them, and Carly was the love of his life, he wanted to marry her! And she is still a friend, if nothing else! so why can't he hug her!
