I hit that same amount of damage, yet her shield never drops for mroe than a few seconds for me... Always back up almost immediately. Is there a trick to keeping it down longer?

I don't know, the only hard part in FT is the 2nd boss because of the time limit, so your dmg must be VERY high and 3rd boss might be trouble some.
For eod b2f, there's tons of bosses and you will be pressed for time, i do believe eod b2f might be easier, i usually do eod b2f in parties due to the length of the dungeon and the side quests.

Battle Mode 2, you get it at lvl 50..or 60...i think...
