unlike a gas motor you have horsepower and torque right off the rip on a electric motor.

Nowadays it is possible to get 300 hp with 1000 torque out of a single electric motor that would fit in a car.

The circuit started life as a lotus (back when it was the Dodge EV), though not an elise. The current version has a bit more bodywork to give it some brand identity, but that won't change the fact that most of the chassis comes from lotus.
