For one, don't people have the tight to remain silent if they want to? That's at least what police say. So why is it the bishop's responsibility to tell anyone? Second, why sue the church? They should go after the sexual abuser. Clearly this is an example of corrupt lawyers trying to get money. That's what America has come to, just sue for any reason just to get money, everyone does it.

this is not an isolated incident. it happens all of the time in the church. especially in Utah. the bishup sometimes thinks that instead of getting police intervention the bishup can fix it

I KNEW ABOUT A LDS FATHER SEXUALLY, PHISICALLY, MENTALLY AND VERBALLY ABUSED HIS DAUGHTER FOR MANY YEARS AND SHE ASKED HER BISHOPS TO HELP HER AND NO ONE IN THAT EVIL CHURCH DID ANYTHING. yeah something smelt fishy in that case. Like someone was trying anything they could to get money out of the church. The church is not responsible for the affairs that go on in peoples homes, I don't care who they claim to counsel. church clergy aren't trained counselors anyway. People just need to take responsibility for their own actions and stop trying to make someone else do the dirty work for them.
