hi there. I think you're talking about Arp's controversial and not widely accepted idea that the quasars - that have very high redshifts - are actually objects ejected from galaxies rather than the centres of distance galaxies moving rapidly away from us because of the expansion of the universe.

Andromeda is actually rather close by cosmic standards (only about 2.5 million light years away) and it's relative speed is quite slow (only 130 km/s) if the blueshift is a Doppler shift.

Since there's vastly more space than matter in either galaxy, I would like they would simply pass through each with minor collisions here and there. Of course, we could be one the minor collisions.
