There is scientific proof that laughing is beneficial for the human body, no matter what age one may be.
Gale Morgan, Vice President with Splendido's parent company Mather LifeWays and Retirement Living Contributor on KVOA News 4, explains that laughing (the physiological manifestation of the effects of humor on a person) has been proven to release pain relieving endorphins, lower blood pressure, increase muscle flexion and reduce stress. Therefore, it is incredibly important for older adults to keep that sense of humor and seek out opportunities to laugh.
