Lightning Strike Starts Major House Fire

At about 7 pm we heard a loud boom during a lightning storm. About 10 minutes later we noticed smoke coming from the roof of the largest house in our neighborhood. This is a 7000 square foot 2 story home. Within a short time, the whole roof was engulfed in fire. We counted 8 pump trucks from 3 counties in our neighborhood and at least 10 more emergency vehicles.

Oct 2011 Update: The second level of the house was demo'd, but it still sits gutted. No idea when they will rebuild. The house was originally bought for $900K, bought on short sale for about $400K and the buyer is still trying to figure out how to pay for the rebuild.
