Somewhere between the greed for money and sound judgment, the legends of country music were tossed aside for the outlandish sound they call country music today.

  • Autry Inman wrote this song,Autry got black listed in Nashville,Autry was Johnny Rebel on all of those KKK records:). Charley is a really good guy I feel really honored to have got to spend so much time with him,We went to breakfast in Manchester tenn(his hometown).I went to his home,Charley gave me about 15 or 16 Louvin CD's, I said Charley I didn't bring a lot of Money for those,"Hey I'm giving them to you",I will CHERISH them FOREVER. He also got my Wife and I backstage tothe Opry,THANK YOU!

  • @packingten: I thought Charlie lives in Shelbyville, Tennessee anyways!

  • I think Ira indeed had a problem with Booze, I spent almost 2 days with Charley in 2005 I was going to play lead for him. he told me many Ira stories some I would not repeat cause I will not bash someone deceased. He said a Sheriff would sometimes meet them when they came into town and arrest Ira for back support. He told me Ira got punched out cold a Guy ask Ira to dance with his Wife, then got mad because he thought Ira got a Bit close:). He would stomp a mandolin then repair it like new later.

  • @packingten: OMG, what does that have to do with his talent? I don't see anyone bashing Tiger Woods for porking..the count is now 11 girls when he is married anyway. We are all weak creatures.

  • Ira had a terible bad temper

    that broke up friendships, wrecked

    marriages and made Charlie distance

    himself from his brother

  • What is the platform for that statement?

  • How sweet is this? I can't brag enough on The Louvin Brothers. Their wonderful harmony just makes any song special. Ira and Charlie were meant to sing and entertain the world. I still cry when I think about the day I heard Ira and his wife had died in a car crash. We were all hoping he and Charlie would get back together after all. There have been some great duos but Ira and Charlie are the cream of the crop. My best always to Charlie. Thanks for posting. - Paula (Kentucky)

  • I guess Ira's drinking problem is of historical interest. A review of Charlie's new book "Satan Is Real: The Ballad of the Louvin Brothers." is at- latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-et-charlie-louvin-20120104,0,7498807.story?track=icymi

  • John and I did this song, but nobody does it as great as the Louvins... MPG

  • @tflippojr Thanks for setting the record straight about Mr. Inman. I read that other deal and thought "What the....?"

  • you hit the nail on the head RJB.

  • @kalmanizer the 80s, 90s and this the past decade were, and are some terrible bastardization of country music.Flash, glitter, tallentless hacks. The best country that has been coming out the past 30 years has been under the title of "alternative country" ironically,it has more of the traditional country sound, and is usually played from the heart, not the wallet

  • a good ol song by two good ol boys

  • Country music is still yours and all the good music that has been and will continue to be. Nobody can decide for you what country music really is. For the people who write and speak and build websites and spread the word around, good things will not fade and will often return.

  • July 7, 1927 - January 26, 2011

  • @packingten You need to offer your sincere apologies to Mr. Inman and his family for your misinformation here. a.k.a Johnny Rebel was Clifford Joseph Trahan. Challenge if you only dare....

  • Now county is about having weird facial hair and driving trucks.. sad
