Fun Fact: this scene was ad libed, the taxi driver ignored the "filming in progress" sign and drove onto the set.

It's funny because of the gratuitous obnoxiousness of the driver. He says "dumbass" with the same pitch and inflection Beavis and Butthead would have used.

@KEYSERSOZE1965 The Original Series had it's fair share of humorous moments already. In fact, Nimoy's idea for this movie was to bring back the lightheartedness of the old show after doing mostly darker dramatic films.
