The Amiga version was good but the C64 version was awesome!
Smooth scrolling, fast input BUT the music alone out arcaded the Arcaded/Amiga version!

@sisterbrothers Thanks for that! :) I love it. Reminds me a lot of Power Drift. But I still don't think it has the same feeling of speed though. There isn't enough scenery whizzing past the camera.

@GrandDizzy Trackmania is about as awesome as it gets when it comes to speed. Especially the Island tracks and cars, check it out here on YouTube.

Power Drift still seems the most thrilling, fast-paced racing game I’ve ever seen. Are there any modern games as fast and thrilling as this with this kind of feeling of speed?

Is it just me, or were some announcer sound clips, e.g. the countdown to start the race and "Final Lap!" recycled for use in Virtua Racing and Virtua Formula?

This came after OutRun and has an enlightening atmosphere. Like that every driver has a special animation when they pass someone.

Can you let me know your settings for this under mame (assuming you use keboard or joypad)? I've tried this but the merest tap left or right sends my car hurtling across the road. I just want to be able to lightly tap left or right for the gentle corners :(

Good question! I don't have Mame to hand at the moment, since it wasn't long ago that I reinstalled Windows...but originally I took snapshots of the settings for the benefit of others. I know I also tried a few different settings, so these might not be the right ones. It's for use with a joypad. Give it a try. I can't find the other settings, sorry. Check the info up top, right.
