@billpg Mexical chili uses Mole Powder, not choclate. Mole is the raw ground coca bean mixed with ground spices. Also "Chili con Carne" (Beef with Chilies) does not have beans. "Chili con Carne y Frijoles" (Beef and Beans with Chillies) does.

@CaseDesignate Lived in mexico for 3 years and they all put beans in their chilli. Not always kidney, sometimes black or navy, but there where always beans in there. Chocolate powder is less common, but it is used to add some bitterness

I like that there's variations in chilli recipes. A TV chef said authentic chilli has no kidney beans and has chocolate powder in it. That sounded mad to me at the time, I didn't know that some Mexican recipes used chocolate in that way. There's nothing wrong with the way we do it in the UK it's just a variation we like, there are lots of them.
Yes, salad does go well with chilli, I've even had it with mashed potatoes instead of rice or bread. Brilliant.

I gotta say Englishmen has some wierd stuff goin on when you're making food. But, i would eat that and enjoy it. Good Job, even tho it was strange. Pretty Original recipe, keep makin stuff mate! :]
