For a taste of Beatsystem's (Derek Pierce) new album: http://soundcloud.com/entropy-records/er-005-beatsystem

All footage was shot in the Mississippi Delta by Waldemar.
This video may be included in an upcoming release by Beatsystem.

I am a die-hard fan of more electonically-based music and the truly legendary Em:t series of ambient/ambient dub/experimental/found sound/headphone discs from the 1990s era under the name Time Recordings (1994-1998) and hailing from Nottingham, UK. The label went under in '98 and was reborn again in '03 under new ownership. Sadly, that too has gone belly-up.

This is great, great music and is from near the tail-end of what I consider to be the golden age of ambient & dub.

The music is copyright 1997 Derek Pierce and was produced/performed by Beatsystem (a.k.a. Derek Pierce).
Blues guitar by Maurizi Coccarelli.

I have Derek's permission to use it.

  • Very nice

"I don't know if you like the quieter side of music"

What made you think I might be on the harder side of music in taste? Lol. It sounds like the guy was trying to play ever softer than it came out. If it was you, palm the pick with your little or two useless fingers [on my pickin they be useless] and use the other three to play softer. I like that style very much. Stuff I would do myself back in the day just like that.

  • @ISamuelII Ya know...I have no idea why I thought that...hehe. It's probably because most people I know aren't fans of ambient music, which can be so subtle as to almost just be ambient field recordings. No, I didn't do this, but I'm just picking up the guitar for the first time in my life these days.

  • Love this vid you made thank you soo much it's just great! and love beatsystem :D

  • @spacemunkey2012 Sweetness. And don't forget he's got a new album out. Worth it!

  • Very nicely done sir. I think between the music and the film footage, you've managed to capture a bit of that elusive spirit of the old south. I grew up on the bayous and the black belt farms down south in the 50's and 60's, and I must say, this really takes me back in time to those almost mythical seeming places. Thanks for this great post!

  • @blackwulfekinde Thanks for the kind compliments & particularly for noticing the almost-mythic nostalgic sense of the deep South. That's part of what I was trying to capture. :)

  • @MyceliaProductions42 Maybe Lemmy has something to do with it. When you stop watching the TeeVee like I did back in the 70s, you pick up other filler and I have my share of ambient CDs like 'forest' & 'waterfall' etc.

  • Nice.

  • check out my new cd on Entropy France the sound of two eskimos kissing

  • Great video Thank you for posting!
