Petitions containing nearly 10,000 signatures of faculty, students, and staff from 19 of Washington State's community and technical colleges to the governor's office on Tuesday, April 21. The petitions ask the governor and State Legislature to stop the budget cuts and to keep tuitions affordable for working-class students. Twenty percent of students who attend the two-year colleges are unemployed, 31 percent are parents, and 51 percent work part- or full-time.
