The second movement "Song Without Words" from Gustav Holst's 2nd suite in F for military band.

The sheet music is here: imslp.org/wiki/Second_Suite_for_Military_Band,_Op.28_No.2_(Holst,_Gustav)

I substituted some instruments based on what instruments I had on hand. From left to right, here are the parts from the original score played on my instruments:

Top row:
Alto sax, tenor sax, 1st trombone, 2nd trombone, bass sax, euphonium
2nd row:
Cornet 1, cornet 2, trumpet 1, trumpet 2, bassoon, bass clarinet
3rd row:
Solo clarinet, 1st clarinet, 2nd clarinet, 3rd clarinet, Eb clarinet
Bottom row:
Horn 1, horn 2, oboe, flute/piccolo

Some instruments required audio editing to shift down one octave to match the original instrument: bass sax, euphonium, bassoon, bass clarinet.

I spent about 3 days on this: 1/2 day to make the arrangement, 1 day to record the instruments and mix the audio, and 1-1/2 days to mix the video.

  • Shouldn't you have a least one square where the occupant is just reading a book or taking a nap? I could do that part pretty well. Of course, I'm pretty lazy. It's obvious you aren't. Nice!

  • @DearOldNutjob Haha good idea :) Actually, not sure if you noticed, but in the second row, the 4 left squares don't play for the first minute, and to pass the time away they're either playing with cell phones or reading.

  • Again another great video of yours! Thanks for sharing! Love the little conductor. Nice and deep piece!

    Cheers,

    Tobias
