One of the biggest influences in my life as a teenager was the BBC's Australia correspondent Red Harrison. His reports both fascinated and educated me about life in Australia and helped influence me to come here. I sadly woke up this morning to hear he had passed away at the age of 75 in a Sydney hospital. He helped inspire me and influence my decision to come to Australia. I will always be thankful and never forget his reports of life Down Under.

  • I too was a great fan of Red, so thanks for taking the trouble. May you rest in peace Red. JD Belgium.

  • @GreenmanBelg I really enjoyed his reports too. Thank you for watching :)

  • As a friend of Red's of more than thirty years, I would like to thank you for taking the trouble to post what is obviously a heart-felt tribute to this great newsman.

Red's memorial service will take place on Friday, June 27, at 2pm at the Cobbity Church, near Camden, where he lived.

  • Thank you so much Piers and I very much appreciate your comments as somebody who has read and seen much of your work. Red was a very talented journalist and I enjoyed his reports and clarity greatly. Regrettably I am in the United States so will be unable to attend his memorial service but I hope it goes well and I will not for get his work and his influence on me. Many thanks once again.

  • Thanks everyone. I really appreciate that :)
