Relay For Life- Thurso

The Relay For Life event occured at locations throughout the UK on Sat 30th August. Thurso's event smashed the UK record for funds raised during this annual event.
For movie enthusiasts this film is slighty interesting in that it was filmed anamorphically in 3:1 ratio using a normal miniDV camera. The picture would normally be the same hieght as 4:3, 16:9 and Cinemascope formats but due to the frame area here we've had to flatten it. We haven't given it the full 3:1 aspect here but as you can see it is significantly wider than normal video frames.

I've heard of 2.35:1 but not 3:1 ratio. Where is that being used?

There was a wee movie made back in 1959 called "Ben Hur" which was shot on super-panavision which had a 0.25 anamorphic lens which rendered a 3:1 ratio on the 65mm master neg. Aparently the film did rather well!
