Yes, kids are welcome too. They start them out with little rubber snakes and sour milk (in lieu of poison). Then onto baby rattlers (but only if they're old enough to know the risks). Then when they turn 18 they are fully embraced by the adults, whereby they are encouraged to handle fully grown serpents and drink poison like the rest of the nuts; all in the name of the lord, of course.

PrismaticRay that comment doesn't make since being that Jesus commanded us to handle them in His last statement to His Church before ascending into Heaven

God in the flesh would have had more sense than to advise humanity to handle poisonous snakes & perform crazy acts that he knew would harm or kill ppl (as it has). If Jesus truly was god's special son he would have had far more important and valuable advice for humanity after his resurrection. Afterall, he allegedly conquered the daming effects of sin. There's so many wise & helpful things he (Jesus) could have offered; why would he advise ppl to act reckless & disrespectful toward life?

Jesus taught us many many things pertaining to life and eternity, but the thing is that if you are right with God the snakes don't have the power to bite you, therefor there is no danger in it. I have never been bitten. I have drank poison strychnine mixed with bleach and never got sick and as you can see never died. this is a sign of the Gospel, that is just what Jesus said it was Mark 16:18-21

It says in Mathew 4:7, "Jesus answered him, "It is also written: `Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"

In Luke, "And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."

In Corinthians snake handling is specifically condemned with, " We should not test the Lord, as some of them did--and were killed by snakes." [Cor 10:9]

So, It is not Christian to test god's love for us by promoting irresponsible behavior that can harm ourselves or others.

you are really using scripture out of context, I have been through seminary 3 times and I also am ordained in 3 denominations. that scripture does not say they were destroyed by handling serpents, but because they had temped the Lord in their lifestyle of idolatry and fornication and such that they were destroyed by serpents like as in a punishment.

@southernpreacher

Do U really think I'm going to be impressed by your claimed credentials? Get off, you're just a snake squeezing hillbilly to me.

And if you are ordained in 3 denominations it just goes to show that you are one that is open to varying interpretations of the bible. It's funny then that you are not willing to acquiesce to commonsense in lieu of a literal (and dangerous) interpretation of the Gospel to suit an idiolatrous craving, like handling snakes in church. Good God!

Jesus specifically said if you believe in Me you SHALL take up serpents. so do you think Jesus said things He did not mean. You can't show me were he said not to do it anywhere but I can show you were he said to do it.
