  • What could be better than being paid to be a do-gooder! I am interested in speech pathology because I genuinely want to help others and I believe that this career field is a venue by which I can make the world a kinder and more just place.

  • @pampletin64 you can include them in society. Children and adults with speech and language disorders want acceptance in society (, remember that speech/language disorders AREN'T always associated with the cognitive intellect of an individual). All and all, the best way to include them as stated before is to treat them like a Pablo Picasso, a friend, and like your neighbor that bakes the best cookies ever. Show them compassion and support and many will feel included =). But ALWAYS be receptive!

  • @pampletin64 It depends. Some children with speech and language disorders are looked down upon by their family and peers, and some children with speech and language disorders have a great support system all around. Generally though, children with a speech and language disorders at some point or another were teased in schools, misunderstood, etc. However, as someone who is in the process of obtaining a masters in this field, My advice is to treat them like you treat your friend, & that is how.

  • What is the social impact in children with speech and language disorder? what strategies can you use to include them in society?

  • @kslifer1066 hi, it's not too late to fix. you'll be shown the correct way to produce the /r/ sound, along with strategies and activities to help you. you can search for a private speech pathologist, or if you have insurance, you can find one through that.

  • i'm a 17 year old and i'm going to ithaca college in ny for SLP. as soon as heard about it, it sounded perfect. I'm so excited to start and help out.

  • @iamawesum hey, I'm not knocking speech pathology at all! I considered it as a career but I'm going into audiology. I would either job would be hard to keep at without a sense of humor though.

  • @zachmasterzach No, I am not humorless or slow. This is going to be my future job and I take it completely seriously.

  • @iamawesum are you slow, or just humorless?
