Penny loved William in sort of a brother way. She cared about him very much, but in the end, she was in love with Russell. The main thing I respect about Penny is how she didn't try to lead William on.

I love Cameron Crowe. The fact that he chose "My Cherie Amour" for this scene is so perfect - here she is, getting her stomach pumped and he is just looking at her like she is the most beautiful thing in the world. I love it.
