Savage worlds is one of my fave mechanic for a RPG.

A very fair and balanced review. I'm a recent convert to Savage Worlds and I'm enjoying it (running a Pirates of the Spanish Main campaign and about to start playing a Deadlands Reloaded campaign). You're correct, there are some things that I don't think Savage Worlds can do, but what it aims to do (Fast! Furious! Fun!) it does extremely well.

This is one of the reviews that convinced me to buy it. If anyone's on the fence -- my video response is for a contest where I'm giving away a free copy of the Explorer Edition. Otherwise, I recommend the game if you're wanting a good generic system that plays fast but still has some depth and crunch.

This review unsold me on Savage Worlds. It may be good, but it sounds like it's not for me.
Funny Kurt that you say you won't use Savage Worlds for Call of Cthulhu, and yet the Call of Cthulhu adaptation to Savage Worlds has just been released. Would be interesting for you to check it out and tell us what you think. From what I understood, it is more action-packed than the traditional CoC as the PCs are stronger and can at least beat some of the horrors they meet. That is before they die horribly or go insane..
