Learn to appreciate the incredible shit he and other jazz musicians play, rather than be distracted by something as petty as "tiring affectations and facial expressions." Until then, listen to music that your immature brain can fathom, i.e. Britney Spears, and don't waste yours and others' time, including myself, talking shit about truly great artists, and making us irritated to the point that we waste our time.
Another thing; the fact that he practiced alot is obvious, and that that practice was a lot of very tedious work and took incredibly deep motivation and commitment. But explain to me how those qualities warrant your blatant disrespect toward him and his work? They seem like very respectable qualities to me. Could it be that you're jealous of his accomplishment?
Man, you haven't even touched the surface of musical understanding. His "affectations" have a GREAT deal to do with what he's playing. Maybe you're too infantile to know this, but music, especially from the musician's perspective, is a physical experience as well as an aural experience, and Brad's movements and facial expressions are simply his expression manifesting itself into his body. They help guide his improvisation; if he tried to contain them, his music would suffer.

i love brad but im so fucking tired of instrumentalists' (jazz in particular) use of affectations when they play. Just play the song and stop acting like your facial expressions have anything to do with what your playing. The reason your that good is because you studied with Fred Hersch and you practiced a shit ton.
