I honestly do not understand how a Christian can look at their God as a parent figure and yet turn right around and excuse that parent figure demanding his Son be tortured to death so He the All knowing, All Powerful God can Love us.
This would be like a parent of two kids demanding the one be tortured to death so they could love the other.
In our society such a parent would not only have their child taken from them but would also be locked up in a mental ward if not Prison!
@shamoo777JCD Exactly How is ENDLESS torture Discipline? What does it teach? What does it change? What does it prove/? The answer is simple. NOT A GOD DAMN THING!| The effect of this mindset that torture is discipline can explain why CHRISTIANS during the Middle ages Tortured unknown Million over nearly 1000 Years! It can also explain why Some CHRISTIANS in 2011 aren't sure if Torture is wrong! You may be able to praise a narcissistic being that uses Torture but I CAN NOT! I OPPOSE EVIL!
@MrGoodNKinky If the greatest thing ever for us, I mean ever, is God Himself, then wouldn't we be the ones questioning Him when we came face to face? He's loving us by giving up His son for us. He's saving us from ourselves. He doesn't need to, but wants to for His glory and love for His creation. It's not torture, it's discipline by the way. Jesus' death upon the cross took God's wrath. It's love. God died to set you free from the sin that entangles us.
Is it Good to use threats of torture to try and manipulate people into blind servatude?
When a government or a person uses tactics like this you Christians are the first to scream how Evil and unGoodly they are. However you turn a blind eye too that very same behavior in your God?
How is this NOT Cherry picking?
If threats and manipulation are wrong for us to do then they would be more wrong for an ALL Knowing being to resort to those tactics!
An amazing explanation of free will in light of Biblical Theology.
