LEGO Mindstorms NXTfied Snow Crawler

Take an 8263 Snow Groomer alternate model, mix it with an NXT kit, wait for a sunny winter day and you get this great little Snow Crawler (see Note #4) -- i really had fun filming it and i felt like a kid again (ok so i often do :)

(Note #1) The sensor you see on this MOC are not of use in this movie! The Snow Crawler was basically just running autonomously and i guess if the dog would had sat in it's way the Crawler would have backed up because it was programmed to do so. The light sensor, for example, was used as a spotlight for when the crawler sneaked under the sofa it would shine... but these outside shots made me forget the ones i took inside.

(Note #2) About using your NXT outside and getting snow in it,, well it's not recommended! You should not expose the NXT components to water so make sure you dry off the snow quickly after.

(Note #3) I removed the soundtrack and deleted the original video so that my account would be clean, This decision however made me loose the previous 6000+ views I had for the original video.

(Note #4) The correct LEGO #8263 Snow Groomer's alternate model name is ARCTIC TRACKER... oh well mine is still called the Snow Crawler

Doesn't it damage the NXT motors when they go in the snow?

@Eddo1998 they seem to be weather resistant -- just make sure you dry them well when you get back inside the house -- and if one stops working... just don't tell LEGO you play with it in the snow ;)

@Champy8181 good question :) you can buy these white cables from mindsensors com they are more flexible than regular NXT cable and are available in shorter length! I find them very useful.
