I am black and don't for one moment think that we are the only people who have had to bare the heart ache or slavery they we many whites who were killed for the cause and they suffered the same "evil" we faced. Her heart is in the right place bless her don't curse her please stop the "evil"
@bishopgeoffrey what a load of crap - most songs are borne from some type of slavery, may it be Black American or just to commercial consumerism, brokenness or fear. The reason we listen is because it is appealing to the ear and the emotions - if something sounded like crap would you listen to it?
It's disrespectful to take a song that was birthed out of struggle and and heartache and death, and try to make is appealing to the listeners ear. If you're going to add to the song-make it your own, remember the ones who sang it and why, where they were in their lives and why this song has sustained until this day. It's not about black or white... it's about a song that originated from slavery and brokenness, and fear... and we've taken it and made it merely appealing rather than meaningful.
Fantastic! bishopgeoffrey is a fool. In his world no-one would ever dare to do anything. In hisworld Elviswould never have started rock 'n' roll (not pure), there would be no R&B, no folk/rock etc etc
So white people are not allowed to sing "race" music? A fool and a fascist also!

Who cares who sings (color) Simply respect the artistic origin of the music; maintain the integrity of the style and genre...
