Mainly Tayside & Fife (East Scotland), also Edinburgh and Glasgow area as well as the highlands, most years I'm also down to run training in England & Wales. Depending on demand/funds I may be in Ireland as well later this year.
Student booked to arrive tomorow is coming across for a week from Norway :-)

where do you teach Murray?

UK PG pilots qualify with WAY more than 20 mins airtime. It depends on what sites the school you are training with use. I train on the hills in Wales/Shropshire- Which means I get a lot of airtime while flying. Not wearing a helmet= BLOODY STUPID. I having been around flying since I've been a baby (16 years!)- I have known helmets to be VERY useful.

There are bhpa 'schools' WHICH STATE THAT BY THE END OG CP 'TRAINING' YOU SHOULD HAVE 30 MINS AIRTIME!!!!
The vast majority of the 1,000+ bhpa 'pilots' I've seen since the late 90's STATED THEY GOT WELL UNDER AN HOUR TOTAL AIRTIME BY THE END OF ep & cp RATING....
Clearly with Incompetent PG 'instruction' bhpa 'pilots' SHOULD use EVERY bit od passive safety Eq. they can buy!
Those who CHOOSE to fund/support the bhpa have been spouting your crap since the 90's (about 1,200 deaths ago!)

Jade it's EASY to assess the standars of 'instruction' in your area by the Appaling Injury/Death rates! Of course the BIG issue is not so much appaling lack of (on average) bhpa 'training' airtime, but rather the DEADLY nonsense the bhpa promotes and teaches!
The bhpa COULD of course IF THEY WISHED TO... slash PG accident rates, however that would cost them millions in legal action from the families of those they have killed/injured!

murray, could you indicate some of the areas where you training contradicts BHPA, as you say it's something like 95% of it?

Hi, almost every aspect of the theory I teach directly contridicts 'normal' PG training, in fact it's hard to think of a single thing in common between te BHPA and PHYSICS.
One starting point would be 'Ram Air'.
The level of incompetence required to teach PG, based on the idea that PG wings are 'pressurised' in flight due to 'Ram Air' (when you remember that the cell openings are NOT at the front of the wing!) has resulted in a LOT of injured & dead BHPA pilots over the years!

lexichronicle the best idea could be for you to choose any one aspect of 'normal' PG theory, stating what you understand to be taught, and how you view that bit of the theory, I will then try to cover this as a 'stand alone' point.
IMPORTANT: In teaching PG to slash accident rates it's VITAL to address ALL the INTERLINKING factors!
