The Malaysian Chinese want a bigger share in government post but they already have biggest share in economic sector. If you read the in job application newspaper ad, they will specifically ask for Chinese and Mandarin speaking people only. What do the Chinese really want? Power? Money?

@MathewTitus Well, maybe i don't know enough about history, but the British are gone for about 40 years now, so enlighten me how your argument about "non-white and white" is still relevant today.
-
@MathewTitus Stay on topic. We are talking about treatment based on the color of our skin by the government, not whether we are dependent on it. The reality is that equal treatment does not exist in Malaysia now. Yes, the government is supposed to take care of us to a certain degree, like education and healthcare. More specifically, it is supposed to provide help to those that can't afford it, but instead it is providing help based on race.
-
You are asking for "benefits"? You want the Governement to take care of you? Like the Government does in Europe? Or, in America? - Is that what you want?
The reason you don't see the relevance of History - is because you don't know enough about it. What was true back then - is still true today.
It's PERFECTLY ALRIGHT if the Government gives us (Malay or Non-Malay) NO HELP WHATSOEVER. The more "help" you get - the more DEPENDANT you are on it.
-
@MathewTitus I do not see the relevance of your argument. Why are you talking about events 100-200 years ago? Being a Malay guarantees a wider range of benefits even though that Malay has the same qualities of a non-Malay. Denying Non-Malays of certain benefits or privileges because of the colour of their skin is equivalent to discrimination. So are you saying it's perfectly alright if we are treated based on the color of our skin?

@annata12 You are NOT oppressed. You have no idea what oppression is. Malaysian have had a stable and benevolent government - unlike many other countries, like the United States for instance. Their corrupt banker-occupied government is now not only sending the children of the poor off to die in a fake war - they have now moved to bankrupt every middle class family in the country through a financial scam. THAT is OPPRESSION.

If you use that "Wikipedea" definition - then I suppose we are ALL "discriminated" - but there is a much better word - "distinct"
Let me first tell you that this country was Colonized by the East India Company - working for the British Crown - and there were essentially only TWO classes of people, "white" and "non-white" - Didn't matter what you're nationality was, so long as you were "Non-White" you had little or no chance of making it to the top. That's discrimination
-
@MathewTitus Hi. matthew titus, how do you define discrimination? Discrimination is prejudicial treatment of someone based on their membership in certain group or category. (Wikipedia). I appreciate it if you do your research into the racial quota system in education, the New Economic Policy introduced by Mahatir and the Malay Supremacy ideology. To write hardworking Malaysians off as lazy or dumb when we speak of discrimination is tantamount to downright ignorance and laziness to research.
although i like how streams have been using social media tools to create talking points but on this case in particular the crew had not done their homework well, they were clearly throwing guesses on the make up of malaysian constitution, foreign policy questions on immigration and opposition grievances on local politics. the program didn't manage to give a historical background on the questions they wanted to address and haphazardly tried to stitch it with irrelevant social media blurbs.
