Ive actually thought long and hard about whether or not (and god forbid!) if ne of my loved ones was murdered whether id prefer them to be in prison for life or put to death and to be completely honest as a human being I could not ever live with myself if i agreed to or proposed the death penalty. Its just not an option in my mind.

I love her so much, just got my 1:1 law degree and thrilled and watched her on tv every week day for years. She has a very practical approach in how she makes her findings, both in the court room and in real life. However i whole heartedly disagree with her opinion on the death penalty. especially when she said that she could send someone to die. I agree that a serious and horrendous crime such as murder should give an ABSOLUTE life sentence in max security but i cannot agree with her on that.

I loved her book. The problem with lawmakers is that they NEVER ask the people that know. They never ask police, judges, teachers, doctors, etc. When they write/pass laws on education, health, or prisons, they never seek the advice of the people that are putting in the time and effort.

@Keither9 Your stats are bullshit...other than the 21 year old sleeping with his girlfriend who's 16 and over, what is your excuse for the ones that hurt children?? They serve less time than drug dealers, murderers, robbers, etc.....

problem with judge judy is she's too utilitarian...I'd put justice first then "public safety". just my principles. i'm bored...anyone want to argue against me???

I wish what you are saying is true but the fact is there are some people in this world, who no matter how loving a family and how close of friends they have, simply turn out wrong and become dangerous. While it is true that the human mind is affected by different factors, sometimes it's just "wired wrong" and no amount of love or counselling can change it.
