  • I thoughtt that was a bit rude. "Why dont you believe in god" Like theirs any evidence to believe in. What a piss question.

  • The vast majority of people in the world believe in a God or Gods of some sort. He was a guest because he was an atheist. Asking "Why?" is a reasonable question.

  • Alisyn asked it in reference to the old saying that "There are no athiests in fox holes". People would wonder why he is an atheist when most people that have been in combat have tended to turn to a higher being for comfort.

  • Comfort or because of something else maybe fear?

  • Either comfort or fear. Most people in combat, or any situation where they fear for their lives, tend to turn to some higher power.

  • Utter nonsense. Prove this ridiculous claim that most people turn to some type of god when afraid or in need of comfort. Where are your sources? Who did this study?

My mother, whom I held on her death bed, remained an atheist to her last breath even though her husband, no not my father, was begging her with tears in his eyes, to accept Christ before she died. She told him to shut up and leave her alone. My grandfather and his brother who stormed Normandy in WWII, remained atheist.

  • Yes, you can tell that Alisyn Camerota is barely resisting her urge to try to impose her personal views on him. You can almost see her biting her tongue. I guess, in light of the fact that most religious people can't restrain themselves in such a situation, she deserves a kudo or two. Still, it was hardly an unbiased interview of a person whose civil rights have been put through the wringer. Jeremy Hall deserves a medal for his courage, IMO.

  • "...most religious people can't restrain themselves..." do you understand the word unbiased? As of the most recent U.S. census, 80% of (legal) americans still claim to be christian. The fact that you seem to be ignorant of that suggests some admirable restraint on their part. Furthermore, regarding "civil rights", perhaps this child should have more carefully reviewed the contract he was signing when he enlisted. The Major he mentioned didn't assault his religion, only his motives for a meeting

  • it's fox news, what do you expect.

  • what does typical fox news mean?

  • the evidence is in you.

  • Estimates (courtesy-Wikipedia [source: Britannica]) put the number of explicit atheists at around 138 million, and number of non-religious at around 720 million.

The number of Jewish (which broadly includes cultural and religous definitions) is about 13 million.

If a Jewish soldier was suing for discrimination, would the host ask "Why don't you believe Jesus is the son of God? Are you sure you're not really Christian? When you're getting shot at, have you ever considered accepting Christ?

  • Maybe true that they do turn to a "higher power" for comfort. That in no way mean that what they actually believe or hope to believe in is true. What is comforting and what is true aren't necessarily the same thing.
