This is not a review, walkthrough, playthrough, or demonstration of my playing ability.
It's more a case of me speaking my thoughts while playing the games, many for the first time, and most for the first time in a very long time... so it's all a little spontaneous and random.
Predictably, as I never practice before recording, I usually play very badly.

Given that I am playing many of these games for the first time, and everything I say is completely off the cuff, you probably shouldn't take what I say overly seriously. The opinions that I express are my feelings at the time, but it's entirely possible that they would be different if I were to take the time to get to grips with the game.

However, given that these videos are intended to show that "first time experience", I believe they have some validity or merit.

  • Eh... looks pretty so-so. Is the arcade version actually more fun? This just looks... boring, really.

  • @BlooditeDrakan There's a link to the arcade version in the info below the video. It's a *much* better game :)

  • Ah, Steve, you are really spoiling us with all of these top notch Amiga classi... Oh... Galaxy Force II... erm, yes, well... :)

  • Whaaaat? A version on the Amiga? I didn't even know this existed!

I have the Megadrive version but the Amiga version is.... different...

  • @markvergeer I think the tunnel sections on the Amiga version are better, but that's about all. Overall, they're both pretty rubbish.

  • If it's an AMIGA game with SEGA on it you are bound for a crapmare.

  • I think the c64 games are the most nostalgic.

  • I had the first one on the Amstrad and it was a decent game for back in the day, this is not as bad as you would think, good video.

  • The arcade version is a million times better. What an agonisingly horrible game. The visuals are dull and everything moves in low frame jumpiness. So many arcade ports were really bad back in the day, and this is a prime example.

Of course, the arcade machine was more powerful, but there are no excuses for this sort of rubbish.

  • I usually found that a lot of Arcade conversions on the Amiga 500 were lacking when compared to the Megadrive versions. For starters with these games are much better played with the MD joypad with D-Pad and the 3 buttons and with the Megadrive's additional graphics hardware like the chip responsible for the parallax scrolling for instance. I really want an FM Towns machine and did back in the day but never got round to buying one. I always found this an average game though. Nice vid.

  • Much better looking than i thought it would be but you are correct about being "wowed" by the arcade i don't feel i would say the same about this version.
