@IndoorCampout they did have the technology to avoid cutting your finger off in Altairs time, but it was symbolic of your commitment to the creed

@skylerb25 Altair is the one who does not have a ring finger. Thanks to Altair improvements later assassin like Ezio was able to use hidden blades without cutting their ring finger. Thought you would like to know :D

@skylerb25 Ah--da Vinci restored it when Ezio gave it to him so he didn't have to cut off his finger. It was funny, cause Leo tricked him into thinking so anyways XD

no the ezio doesn't have his ring finger cut is because da vinci or a guy like that made a hidden knife contraption so you don't have to cut a finger off

Right, I'll clear up the hidden blade thing.
Altair had his ring finger cut off because the blade had to be released from the contraption across his lower arm, keeping his hand relaxed (thank you allyoucanbe735). AC1 is set in 1191, the tech wasn't good enough for it to work more easily then.
Da Vinci (thank you skylerb25) has better gear in the renaissance, and therefore came up with good enough kit ti prevent him from having to cut his ring finger off.
