Funny thing is, the game is not even dead. Maybe it won't be the same, but all the characters are getting a makeover so no legal boundaries may be crossed again. Plus, the people behind Skullgirls are lending their game engine for use in the game.

The game is dead because it won't be the same. I don't want to play as some character that was just made up, I wanted to play as Twilight Sparkle.

It's not like I won't like their new game or whatever new designs, but what appealed to me here was playing as ponies I know and liked.

Although you are correct in saying that they didn't get permission, they *technically* didn't need it, seeing as how copyright laws don't apply to non-profits. Mane6 technically is a non-profit, so they weren't violating copyright law. That being said, they were walking a very fine line between legality and illegality, so i cant understand why they didn't try to take the C&D to court(that, and money)
